Four students selected to All-State Choir

           St. James had four students make the Missouri All-State Choir after auditioning on November 12. Lily Baker, Hunter Redburn, Ryan Braun and Abby McKee will now have the opportunity to perform with other students selected to the choir, which highlights the best of the best.

Flett family donates to Wreaths Across America

Members of the Flett family donated $8,250 to the local chapter of Wreaths Across America on Thursday, November 17. Funds were raised through the third annual Carol Flett for Veterans golf tournament on October 10, with the goal to pay for this year’s Wreaths Across America ceremony.

Candidate filing begins December 6

            Filing for city, school, and seats on the ambulance board will open on Tuesday, December 6.  Those interested in filing for the April 4 election will have until December 27 to do so.

Chamber accepting nominations for annual awards

            The St. James Chamber of Commerce announced it has begun accepting nominations for the annual awards dinner, which recognizes those individuals, businesses, and organizations which make St. James a better place to live. These nominations are made by citizens of the community and the deadline to nominate someone is Monday, December 12.

School district considering tax rate levy raise

           The St. James School District is considering putting a tax levy increase on the April ballot. Proposition TIGERS (Todays Investment Gets Educational Rewards for Students) would ask voters to raise the tax rate from $2.75 to $3.40 per $100 assessed property tax valuation.
