Iron Hill Armory held a grand opening on Saturday, June 20, at its new home located at 120 North Jefferson Street in downtown St. James. Owned and operated by Jeremy and Miranda Clark, they hope to bring their passion of firearms to provide for the needs of gun lovers in the community.

The St. James Board of Education voted last week to move forward with FirEd up Consulting to finalize the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) after it was delayed due to COVID-19. Work had started on the process, with FirEd Up Consulting being hired by the district, holding public meetings involving business leaders, residents, students, staff, and district administration to develop new short- and long-term plans.
The St. James Board of Education approved the district’s fiscal 2020-21 budget during a meeting on Thursday, June 25. Superintendent Dr. Merlyn Johnson reported the budget allows the district to maintain its current programs, but it will have a deficit.
The 2020 Grape and Fall Festival (GFF) and Old Iron Works Days (OIWD) have both been canceled due to COVID-19. The Fall Festival was scheduled for August, while Old Iron Works Days was to be held in October.
The St. James High School Class of 2020 held its commencement ceremony Friday night at the multipurpose sports complex. Students celebrated to a firework display before moving on to school, military, or careers.
