Carjacking suspect arrested

            A pregnant woman with her six-year-old child in the car sped away from a man she reported was armed with a rifle and attempting to hijack her vehicle on June 8 in Leasburg. Law enforcement responded but were unable to locate the man at that time, however, he was caught the next day.

Equipment for new SROs among $100,000 in funding approved for sheriff’s office

            The Crawford County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund (LERF) Board met on Tuesday, June 7, and approved funding for nearly $100,000 in requests from Sheriff Darin Layman.

            A man who allegedly broke the door handles in two Crawford County Sheriff’s Office vehicles faces felony charges as a result.

           A Cadet man stands charged with six felonies after reportedly firing a handgun at a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper on May 28 south of Steelville.

Crawford Electric director announces retirement                       

            Ken Crowder, of Sullivan, has announced that he will not seek re-election this year to the board of directors of Crawford Electric Cooperative after serving 21 years. Co-op members first elected Crowder to a three-year term as a District 1 director in 2001 and they re-elected him to the board six times.
