The Cuba Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, June 15, where it was announced that Alderwoman Debbie Martin will be resigning from the board because she is moving out of her current ward. Martin will remain active in city government through her new positions on the Board of Tourism and Planning and Zoning Board.
Cuba School District Superintendent Jon Earnhart is a short-timer as he’s officially set to begin his new job as an assistant superintendent in Festus, Mo. on July 1. That doesn’t mean, however, that he isn’t staying busy as his 15-year career with the R-2 District comes to a close.
The Cuba Board of Alderman held a special meeting Monday night to discuss the upcoming budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year. The city has several projects planned for the upcoming year, however, the council opted to cut several items from the budget.
The Cuba Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of The Wildcat Pizza Co. on June 4. The new business, which is located at 502 E. Washington is owned by Karen Weber (left) and Crystal Huggins, who cut the ribbon.
Well-known Cuba potter Julie Brand has been accepted into a virtual show at the McGroarty Art Center in Tujunga, Calif., and earned an Honorable Mention in their Botanical Abundance show for her piece entitled “Sunset in the Forest.”
