Summer school is combining learning with fun

    The Steelville School District’s summer school program is offering a variety of educational classes at each building, along with a little fun.
    “At the elementary, most classes will be enrichment-based with each week being a different theme,” Superintendent Mike Whittaker said.
    Week 1 is Reading Adventures, Week 2 is Science Explorations, Week 3 is Social Studies, and Week 4 will be STEM activities.

ECC grad receives PTK Transfer Scholarship

    East Central College Class of 2021 graduate Jenna Meintz recently was awarded the Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Achievement Scholarship to attend Webster University.

Congressman congratulates Steelville senior on appointment to U.S. Military Academy

    On Monday, Congressman Jason Smith’s (R-MO) congratulated Brandon Gibbs, of Cuba, on his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy this fall. Gibbs recently graduated from Steelville High School.

STARCO Plein Air event wraps up Saturday

    The Steelville Arts Council’s (STARCO) annual spring Plein Air painting event officially got underway Monday with 42 artists from five states traveling to a local farm to complete paintings. They will be painting throughout the area all week leading up to meet and greet and art sale at the Steelville Community Building on Saturday.

School district honors staff

    The Steelville School District didn’t host a special event but offered recognition to staff and board members for achievements and milestones reached during the 2020-21 school year.
