Steelville woman wins vaccine drawing

    A Steelville woman won $10,000 in the first round of the state of Missouri’s Vaccine Incentive Program (VIP) drawings. Governor Mike Parson announced the winners of the first drawing of the MO VIP on August 25.

Six will vie for HF queen's crown

Six contestants will compete for the crown in the Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Harvest Festival Queen Pageant.

Shots fired by cops in Steelville

    A Steelville police officer and a Crawford County deputy were involved in a shooting incident on Gridley Street in Steelville on August 27. A suspect was injured but in stable condition in a St. Louis hospital, according to press releases issued by Steelville Police Chief Mike Sherman and Crawford County Sheriff Darin Layman.

Reed recognized for service as SRO

    Adam Reed served as the School Resource Officer in Steelville for three years. While in that role, he made a positive impact on students and helped several students through difficult times. Local resident Kurt Watson requested and received a resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives to present to Reed in appreciation for his work for local youth. Although Reed is no longer the SRO in Steelville, he continues to serve the community through the Juvenile Office.
