Improvement is great. But for a club that has lost 21 of its last 22 games, improvement without a win is still painful.
The St. James High School softball squad took home consolation honors in the New Haven Softball Classic, held Saturday, Aug. 28.
In a game of big plays, the California Pintos simply made more of them. With every touchdown in the game coming from nearly 50 yards out, the St. James High School football team’s season-opener was an exciting, albeit, disappointing one.
The Cuba High School softball team went 1-3 at the Union Softball Tournament to open the season last Friday and Saturday. The Lady Wildcats earned a victory over Union, but lost to Rolla, Silex, and Seckman.
The Cuba Wildcats football team headed into last Friday’s season and home opener with hopes of repeating the start of last season with a win over Sullivan. The Eagles, however, didn’t cooperated and went back home on I-44 with 54-6 victory.
After winning just one game over the past two seasons, the St. James High School football team feels it is ready to make a positive statement this fall. And coming out of the starting blocks the Tigers will be playing an unanticipated foe to open things up.
