Local author Carey Portell will be at the James Memorial Public Library on Thursday, October 21. She will speak about her new book “Facing Life Head On” as well as holding a book signing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A water main break on Highway B left many without water on Thursday and Friday as repairs were made. Once water was restored, a boil order was issued by the city of St. James until water testing can be completed this week.
Award-winning family singing group The Hoppers will perform a concert at First Assembly of God on Monday, October 25. The performance will be free of charge and the community is invited to attend.
All city paving projects have been completed for the year after Primrose and Aster courts, Huff Street, and a major repaving of Springfield Street were finished to end September.
Kiowa Line Builders has started replacing old transmission line poles and making repairs to the city’s electric system. Kiowa was the low bidder on the project at $209,200 and was approved by the St. James City Council over the summer to do the work.
