Council holds vote on UTV use in town

    The St. James City Council held discussion and a vote on an ordinance making it legal for utility vehicles (UTV) to be allowed inside the city limits to promote the business district. While the ordinance had a vote of 4-3 in favor, it did not have the fifth vote in favor to pass due to one member being absent from the meeting, held on Tuesday, October 12.

Council hears update on water system

    Members of the St. James City Council heard an update on a year-long project to smoke test and run cameras through the city’s water system. The council has been awaiting results of the work, which provided a look at all 26 miles of the system and documented where issues were found.

Chamber holding decorating contest for Halloween

    The St. James Chamber of Commerce is holding a Spooktacular 2021 contest to celebrate Halloween throughout the St. James community. The winner in each category of the decorating contest will receive a $25 gift card and a golden pumpkin.

Band takes second in class at Branson Invitational

    The Red Regiment Marching Band continued its strong competition season last Saturday, taking second in their class at the Branson Marching Invitational.  The band performed well enough to make the finals and finished sixth.

Council discusses ARPA funding

    The city of St. James has been working with Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) on ways American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funding can be spent and members of the city council this week heard an update on several projects which could be funded using those funds.
