City working on stormwater project near Industrial Park

    The city of St. James began work on a major stormwater project on North Springfield Street near the Industrial Park. Several new culverts are being installed under residential driveways to aid in water travelling to the area, trying to divert it to the nearby creek.

Alley repair complete

    An alleyway located near James & Gahr Mortuary has been repaired, including a new sidewalk, paved apron, and new driveway from one side of the block to the other. The alley is one of the most used in the city.

Tiger tailgate party is Friday

    The annual Tiger Tailgate Party is this Friday, August 27, prior to the first home football game of the year. This year, the football Tigers will be playing California and the tailgate party will help celebrate the beginning of a new football season.

Online registration goes live for facility rentals

    The city of St. James Parks Department has launched a new online registration portal for rental services. Parks Director Kristy Rich believes this will streamline the process of renting a park pavilion, Community Hall, and other spaces.

Board votes to not extend discretionary pay policy

    The St. James Board of Education voted last week to not extend discretionary pay for teachers who must miss time due to COVID-19 or quarantining. Last year, federal money was provided to the district to help pay for the first semester for teachers who had to miss time and the board agreed to extend the policy for the second semester to ensure teachers did not use sick days too quickly.
