Tax rate hearing held

    The St. James City Council met in special session on Monday afternoon to hold a public hearing on the proposed tax levy. No citizen input was heard and the council moved forward with accepting the new levy.

Fall sports league registration now open

    The city of St. James Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting teams for fall sports leagues. Adult softball, both men’s and coed, as well as Little Tigers Flag Football deadlines approaching and those interested in participated should register as soon as possible to guarantee a spot.

Council approved new police officer position

    The St. James City Council has voted to approve a budget amendment which will allow for the hiring of an additional police officer for the St. James Police Department. The city has seen a rise in call volume and violent cases recently and is looking to protect officers on duty by having enough coverage to assist during calls.

Two students recognized for actions during bus wreck

    Two St. James students were recognized on Friday, August 27 for their action during a bus wreck that occurred on Wednesday, August 25. Tandon Baker and Emilee Williams were presented with a proclamation from Governor Mike Parson by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol prior to Friday night’s football game.

Machinist union donates items to Veterans Home

    The community service committee of the International Association of Machinists-District 9, of St. Louis, donated items to the Missouri Veterans Home-St. James (MVH) on Tuesday, August 24. During their visit to the facility, which is still not allowing visitors inside due to COVID-19, members of the union thanked veteran residents for their service with signs and waves.
