City completes stormwater project near Industrial Park

    The city of St. James completed a major stormwater project on North Springfield Street near the Industrial Park. Several new culverts were installed in residential driveways and ditches were reshaped to force water to drain correctly into a nearby creek.

Schools moves to Level 1 of Return to Learn plan

    Students attending St. James Schools will no longer be masked after spending the first two weeks at Level 2 of the Return to Learn district plan. On Friday, September 3, the district announced area COVID-19 positivity rates were falling and there had not been any major outbreaks district-wide, leading to the return to Level 1.

Grape and Fall Festival begins next week

    The 87th Annual Grape and Fall Festival returns to St. James next week and will see Nelson Hart Park filled with plenty to do after the event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. This year’s theme is Celebrating the Past, Present, and Future and the event will run from September 8-11.

Volmer crowned Miss St. James

    Allyson Volmer was crowned Miss St. James during the annual Grape and Fall Festival Queen Pageant held on Saturday, August 28. There were three candidates vying for the crown and Volmer will now reign over festival events coming in September, as well as promoting St. James and local businesses for the next year.

Volunteers needed for GFF

    This year’s Grape and Fall Festival is quickly approaching, and volunteers are needed to help with the event. The St. James Chamber of Commerce is seeking assistance in several areas throughout the event, which will run September 8 through 11.
