Council approves contract with HFL Consultants for IT services

    The St. James City Council approved a contract with HFL Consultants, which will provide IT services for city departments. The change of providers, which was approved Monday night, is hoped to offer more options to the city as it attempts to connect multiple city buildings with internet service.

Demolition car door auctioned to benefit fire department

    During Saturday night’s demolition derby at the Grape and Fall Festival, a hand painted door of one of the cars was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the St. James Fire Protection District. Earlier in the day, members of the fire department had signed the door prior to the annual parade, which was painted in tribute to the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

City working to address old utility poles

    St. James Municipal Utilities is continuing to change out old failing utility poles throughout the city. On Monday night, Public Works Director Lyle Thomas discussed the ongoing project with members of the city council.

City approves amending sewer ordinance

    During its meeting Monday night, the St. James City Council approved changing some verbiage in a sewer ordinance in order to meet requirements from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) loan application to renovate the wastewater treatment plant.
