School has three SROs on duty

           With the addition of a new Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, the Cuba School District now has three school resource officers (SRO) on duty with one working at each school. The Cuba Police Department, as it has for several years, is supplying two officers.

Cuba Fest marking 60 years in October

            It began as a dream of Marie Marr and Percy Pascoe and the first Cuba Fest was on May 27, 1961, on Smith Street between Route 66 and the railroad tracks. The street was closed to traffic and the first Cuba art show began.

Superintendent warns about possible tax cuts

           The superintendent of the Cuba School District is concerned about Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s proposed tax cuts that will be discussed in a special legislative session to begin on September 6. “It could have a big impact on educational funding,” he told the board on August 25.

Alderman Black resigns

            During a special meeting on August 23, Ward 2 Alderman Sam Black announced that he was resigning his position. His replacement is expected to be named at the next council meeting, which is scheduled for September 6.

Feeding feral cats now illegal in Cuba

            The Cuba City Council approved four new ordinances at its August 16 meeting. One made it illegal to feed feral cats.
