California men arrested with drugs

    Three California men face felony charges in Crawford County after attempting to evade law enforcement on Interstate 44 on New Year’s Day. The three were traveling in two separate cars and tried to escape but were unsuccessful.

Council approves security request, contracts

    Additional security measures could soon be in place at the city’s new mechanic shop and tree trimming work should be underway soon. A motion to install cameras and an alarm system for the former MEPCO building and contracts for tree trimming were approved during the first Cuba City Council meeting of the new year.

School district seeing increased illnesses

    The Cuba School District is currently dealing with an increase in illnesses among both students and staff throughout its campus. All of it, however, is not strictly related to COVID-19.

Council approves email protection plan

    The city of Cuba’s email system is going to be more secure following city council approval of a new protection plan on January 4. The additional security will cost the taxpayers approximately $300 per month.

Animal adoption fee going up, dog tags going away

    People wanting to adopt an animal in Cuba may soon have to pay more but, if they live in the city limits, they may be able to save money once they adopt a new pet.
    During its January 4 meeting, the Cuba City Council heard a request from the Animal Control Committee to increase the city’s adoption fee and abolish annual animal tags. Both changes will have to be made with a change to existing city ordinances.
