School projects nearing completion

    In a facilities update presented at the September Steelville School Board meeting, board members approved a final change order on the work completed in the front of the downtown campus, heard about the completion of the LP tank project, and expressed concerns about the delay of the gymnasium project.

Council hears questions on pit bull service dog

    More research will need to be completed before the Steelville City Council will make a determination on a request to waive insurance requirements for a pit bull dog living inside the city limits. The dog is a service animal and as such, there are questions on whether the requirement applies.

Steelville Schools to provide free meals

    Free meals will be offered to local children in the Steelville School District beginning next week. On Friday, September 11, Steelville Schools Superintendent Mike Whittaker announced the district had received word that it qualifies for the “Free Meals for All Students” program. The program falls under the USDA, which announced the extension of the summer meal programs in order to continue to serve free meals to all children into the fall months, as funding allows.

Council denies request to waive deposit

    Steelville City Council members agreed to uphold the electricity deposit required by ordinance despite a request from a local person to consider another option.

Steelville man faces child porn charges

    Child pornography charges have been filed against a Steelville man accused of having videos and images of children engaged in sexual activity.
