Four Cuba High School softball players have been selected to the Class 3 District 3 all-district softball team by the district coaches. Teams in the district included Sullivan, St. Clair, Ursuline Academy, St. Francis Borgia, Lutheran South, Cuba, Owensville, and St. James.
Cuba High School runners Kaylee Fulliam and Melayna Brown are headed to the Class 3 state finals. Both advanced to state by finishing in the top 30 at the Class 3 District 2 meet held last Saturday at Clever.
The Steelville Middle School boys basketball season is in full swing and the Cardinals are off to a good start, winning five of their first six games.
The Steelville High School varsity volleyball team saved its best for last at the Class 2 District 8 tournament championship game Monday night in Dixon. The Lady Cardinals best, however, wasn’t quite good enough as they fell to top-seeded Conway in three sets.
The Steelville High School boys and girls cross country teams easily cruised to victory at the Gasconade Valley Cross Country Meet last week. The races, which were hosted by Bourbon but held at the Steelville Community Park, were run on October 22.
For a team that has lost four straight games and has just one victory on the season, no one is lining up to take on the St. James High School football squad in the win-or-go-home district tourney format. The Tigers may have more momentum entering district play than any 1-8 team in the state.
