Cats will scrimmage Friday

    Cuba High School basketball fans can get a preseason look at the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats on Friday during the school’s Black and Gold Night on Friday. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

MDC reminds deer hunters of CWD mandatory sampling Nov. 13-14

    The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds deer hunters that it will be holding mandatory CWD sampling during opening weekend of the November portion of firearms season, Nov. 13 and 14, for hunters who harvest deer in MDC CWD Management Zone counties.

SMS Lady Cards sweep Bourbon at home

    The Steelville Middle School girls basketball teams hosted Bourbon Friday and earned a sweep of the Warhawks. The Lady Cards also lost a pair of games to Cuba last week.

Perkins named volleyball MVP

    Six players on the Lady Cardinals volleyball team have been named to the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) all-conference volleyball teams by the GVC coaches. Three Steelville High School girls were picked for the first team, with one being named the league’s most valuable player.

Diaz, Crocker are all-state as boys finish third at state

    Steelville High School junior Conner Diaz and freshman Vincent Crocker both earned all-state honors as they led the Cardinals to a third-place team finish at Saturday’s Class 2 State Cross Country Championship in Columbia. The Lady Cardinals came in sixth.

Priory use big plays to roll over Tigers, 52-14

    Any chance that the St. James High School football team had of matching the high-octane offense of the Priory Ravens in Missouri Class 3 District 4 semifinal action was wiped out early on, thanks in part to penalties and turnovers.
