MBSH to host free drive through flu vaccine clinic

On Saturday, October 2, 2021 Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital (MBSH) will be hosting a free drive through flu vaccine clinic in the hospital parking lot at 751 Sappington Bridge Road, Sullivan, Missouri. The Flu Shot Clinic will run from 8-10 a.m., while supplies last, and are available for those ages 18-64 years.

To help ensure the safety of community members and staff, MBSH is asking that upon arrival participants please follow the directional signage, entering the parking lot only where indicated, and to please remain in their vehicle at all times.  It is also recommended those attending the clinic wear clothing that makes their arm easily accessible, as privacy will be limited.  All attendees will be asked to complete a wellness screening upon arrival and masks will be provided, which must be worn while staff is present.
In previous years, MBSH has held an annual health fair each fall offering a variety of preventative health screenings as well as flu vaccines, however due to safety considerations of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was determined last year to move forward with a drive through flu vaccine only event. With the continued presence of COVID-19 in the community, the hospital is once again opting to offer the vaccines in a drive through format.
“We feel the Health Fair is an important service to provide for our community, and we are disappointed that we are unable to offer the full event again this year.” said Natalie Counts, MBSH Community Health Educator/Communications & Marketing Consultant. “Fortunately, the drive through event last year was a great success, and we are grateful we have a way to still offer flu vaccines to community members that is safe for both those receiving the vaccines as well as our staff.”
Getting the flu vaccine in 2021 continues to be essential in protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable respiratory diseases and outbreaks. By getting the vaccine, it not only protects the individual and the people around them from flu, but it helps to reduce the strain on healthcare systems in our area responding to the continued presence of COVID-19.
