Volunteers needed for GFF

This year’s Grape and Fall Festival is quickly approaching, and volunteers are needed to help with the event. The St. James Chamber of Commerce is seeking assistance in several areas throughout the event, which will run September 8 through 11.

The Chamber invites any businesses, organizations, church groups, or individuals who would be willing to help throughout the event to sign up now. A signup page has been added to the Chamber of Commerce website so volunteers can view exactly what times, dates, and events still need help.
“We do need volunteers for the Grape and Fall Festival coming up. Big areas where we’re really, really needing help with is parking,” Chamber of Commerce Director Robin Ziegler said. “We’re also needing more ticket-takers out there. It’s going to be a big community event and we need the community to come out and help out with that as much as possible.”
“We also need some help setting up Sunday, on Labor Day weekend,” she said. “We also need some help setting up the exhibit hall. You can sign up by going to our webpage at www.visitstjamesmo.com and then go to the events tab and down to Grape and Fall Festival Facebook page,” Ziegler said.
The direct link to the signup page is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805094DAFAD2EA0FC1-grape to reserve an event and time. Spaces are available for the back stage/green room, the beer garden, catering and hospitality, in the cook shack, at the exhibit hall, loading in and out, merchandise sales, parade line-up, parking pit passes for the demolition derby, security, set up and tear down, assisting with the street market, ticket-takers, and more.
A full list of duties and requirements are given when signing up and outline exactly what duties are needed at each station. It also details where volunteers will be located on the fairgrounds or at the various events. Volunteers will also determine a date and time they are willing to work throughout the festival.
The Grape and Fall Festival takes a lot of work and volunteers make the event possible each year. Ziegler said there are many areas still needing volunteers, including on the fairgrounds as well as at the street market on Saturday, September 11 and the Chamber is asking anyone who might be interested to sign up for a spot as soon as possible so the Chamber knows which events still need assistance.
